the chianti area between florence and siena is one of the most beautiful countrysides in italy and a famous wine production area.
within the area our guests can choose from the many vine yards where they can enjoy a wine tasting tour with lunch
the villa is well placed to visit many excellent local restaurants and in nearby arezzo there is a lively night club scene for the more energetic. for those wanting to recover and relax our guests will find a natural thermal water spa 40 minutes away.
in montevarchi there is also a monthly food market selling many specialities of the region.
the famous designer outlet mall (prada gucci bottega veneta ecc) is only 30 minutes away.
the pratomagno is a mountain range which has the arno river on both sides: to the west is the upper valdarno and to the east is the casentino. it lies north-west of the city of arezzo. it is a natural reserve where you can go walking or by mountainbike or by horses.

siena: surrounded by olive groves and the vineyards of chianti siena is one of the most beautiful cities of tuscany. set on three hills the city is drawn together by winding alleyways and steep steps whilst the piazza del campo stands at its heart and the duomo and st maria della scala serve as additional cultural landmarks. famed for the "palio" the annual historic horse-races that take place on 2 july and 16 august it is also home to one of the oldest universities in europe which ensures a vibrant italian student atmosphere throughout the academic year. in addition to the bustling daily life of the streets and squares of the city siena offers many cultural events concerts cinema theatre and a wide range of sporting activities. is a provincial capital within the central italian region of tuscan the historic part of the city is on a hill in a defensive position close to the base of a stronghold. is known for its medieval architecture and has an evocative old quarter. shoppers will enjoy arezzo s goldsmiths jewlers and antiques.
a stroll around the winding streets takes in the town s sights and several interesting churches and palazzi. highlights include the sloping piazza grande and the cathedral the duomo which contains fine stained-glass windows and an elaborately carved tomb recounting the life of bishop guido tarlati. beind the cathedral is a pleasant leafy park leading up to the sixteenth-century medici
fortress which offers impressive views over arezzo and the surrounding countryside.
arezzo is renowned for its antique fairs which take place on the first sunday of every month and the preceding saturday. a medieval reenactment the giostra del saracino takes place twice a year on the third sunday of june and the first sunday of septembe
cortona is surrounded by etruscan walls around 3000 years old. it retains much of its history through its architecture layers of history built upon the etruscan core. the plain below cortona is speckled with etruscan tombs. cortona s thriving expat community is quite involved with the city so a tourist speaking only english will feel welcome--and have interesting things to do.
cortona is the setting for "under the tuscan sun." people i ve talked to who live here can t really explain their attraction to friends who ve never lived in italy. waking up throwing open the shutters to the slant of sun in a piazza where merchants are setting up for business having your morning cappuccino in a bar where the barista knows your name.
- san gimignano is a charming hill town of 7000 inhabitants which has preserved its medieval appearance more completely than any other town in tuscany stands 334 mts above the sea level on the site of a small etruscan settlement dating from the hellenistic period (third to second bc). its history begins around the tenth century.
the town is famous for its numerous towers which make it conspicuous from a great distance and provide one of the most remarkable sights in italy. it is possible to walk along the 13c walls from which there are fine views of the rich agricultural farm land which surrounds the town
